Having spent many years on the spiritual path I am very attuned to other's energy and their tone and choice of words which can be truly a challenge for me. I realize that it is perhaps a cultural thing that people can seem pushy and lack true empathic linking with another. My background in psychiatric nursing and my education also plays a role. I am protective of myself and normally don't engage with people until I know a bit more about them for these reasons.
I received an expected phone call related to a program that was being offered on a social network site. Because I am working as a Professional Life Coach I was interested in learning but did not know the cost involved which was a barrier for me at this time. I was the first one to put the discussion into a business context by asking what her work was. She seemed a little surprised but I knew that at that point I had taken over control. She informed me of her own success and that of her partner before asking me if I was happy with my life and lived where I wanted.
I realise that much is written about material thinking and bringing success through energetic work. It's OK and I know that our lives have to be in balance to bring the things we desire. I do believe that we are destined to go through karma that we would not know about but in order to clear it from our slate have to go through events to get ourselves cleared of the past burdens, even from previous lifetimes. As a devotee of a Spiritual Master I have absolute trust that I am in the right place in my life for what I need to learn and develop and that struggling against what is doesn't bring harmony that is needed to attract prosperity.
I have had two Spiritual Teachers and my original Teacher opened my heart and since the time that I was under her direction I have led my life from my heart. My current teacher relates to our everyday lives with an emphasis on ethics and application of right action in our lives. We are taught to be accountable for every action and thought that we have that is negative and keep a journal record to send to him if we wish. This is how we grow by going deeper into our self and having true understanding about who we are. We can skip the rudimentary basics of spirituality as "boot camp" so to speak and jump into the luxury realm of life. This is where people truly get burned and turn to other ways of coping to feel love, joy, peace etc. though alcohol and drugs. Of course it wouldn't be everyone who would handle success this way but the risk is high if you don't have the spiritual growth to ground you.
For now I have made my way through legal battles to do with my career. It has been a set back in one sense but has been a boon in another. I met my Teacher a year ago and have spent time with him in Chicago. I have been reading and writing and following political events on line. Just today I signed up to write for an online news publication under the category of children and family. I have worked most of my career with children and adolescents and love to help people find joy in their family life. It takes commitment in any relationship to feel joy even with yourself. My Teacher used to tell us that we had to "unearth the joy." We are conditioned to believe that happiness is outside ourselves and we have elevations in mood when we buy new goods or do well on exams etc. but this is temporary joy and doesn't reach the level of bliss. Your God is at home right now in your heart! Open the door and let Him in!!
Whatever work God has given you to do be completely absorbed in it and offer your total self. If it is money that motivates you it will not bring you the happiness that you will have for the love of your work alone. Always go the extra mile for people. Someone I know shared a picture of his presentation at an important meeting regarding a voting rights issues. I know that he can give his total all to this project because he was able to share his experience so openly and when you do that other's connect with you. It takes a vulnerable nature to keep going out into the world of stone hearted people and demonstrating how to care. It can be done and carrying the light is what some have been given to do. Let your light shine and light others lights on the way!
Life is such a beautiful journey with many turns and unexpected events. Learn everything you can from your religion and live the way you are taught. I have found that my love for Christ has deepened since studying with Spiritual Master's who have helped me with my own inner journey. Being vegetarian is a necessary component of spiritual transcendence and my Master asks "Why make your body into a graveyard?" I hope to become active through writing to stop factory farming which is about the most evil thing I have seen. See the video "Food.Inc."
Know that no matter how your life looks right now it's in a process and God is in control. Keep your goals written down and work toward them everyday. Say prayers. If doors are closed and not easy to open don't try to force them open. Find another way to earn a living and thank God for His protection. Seek a spiritual mentor and Life Coach who can help you find the right path for you. Someone who has gone ahead of you and knows the effort involved and courage that it takes to encounter the spiritual path. It is not for the faint hearted but God will get you to the goal of Liberation. That is the goal of mankind and our purpose for being.
Sleep well tonight and sweet dreams. Think of all those who love you before you go to sleep and know that angles surround you while you sleep.
