As a health care provider it is important to meditate and refresh you soul. An enlightened friend once told me to meditate fore at least two hours a day as I work with the mentally ill. There is so much work to be done on ourselves as we help others and putting our own development first is essential. Burnout will be an inevitable outcome if we don't take steps necessary to enliven our souls. We will run out like a battery.
Start with a thirty minute meditation. Sit quietly and close your eyes. Connect your mind with your heart and center your concentration in the area between the eyebrows or the third eye as it is called. If you see light that look likes a star focus on it and go beyond it. Stay in silence. You don't have to focus on the breath instead let your breathing continue naturally and let you attention go inside and not remain tied to the senses.
You can make an intention for your meditation. Here are some suggestions.
May the energy that surrounds me be pure and uplifting to all.
My love grows for all those whom I care.
Respect for myself comes through respecting others.
What I need to change about my own attitude will be reflected to me through others.
I am open to compassion and feel it for others as well as myself.
When you come out of meditation you can write about your experience and what came up for you. Did you have feelings of regret or were you worried about anything? Did you feel refreshed? Note how meditation changes your inner state and how you are then able to relate to outer circumstance. There is a direct relationship.
When you feel stressed out you can go back to that space of meditation and the peace that you felt then can be drawn upon in the moment to help you center and feel calm. Rememberer to recall your meditations and remember your higher power constantly. Grace is always available and if you listen to your inner guide you will know what to do in any situation.
