You can either freeze in place or thaw out and move on when life takes you down. People like Oprah have had tremendous success partly because we all are allotted a certain amount of luck according to our karma as taught by mystics. We have twenty five percent choice in how we shape our destiny in the present and that is why it is so important to have positive thoughts.
It doesn't mean that you go around with your head in a bubble. There are certain things that you have to pay attention to and develop strategies. Yesterday for instance I went back to a solicitor who had handled a case with the housing association where I work due to flooding. Happily we were able to solve the situation by moving me from that flat into one which is livable! I asked the solicitor to sign a letter relinquishing me from the fees because the time had come when I was due to enter into the process of court action over the needed repairs. In doing so I felt that it was perhaps negative thinking but in reality it is important to remain trusting but acknowledge that when exiting a legal contract it is important to protect myself.
I have recommended that those who are having to defend a license contact a lawyer specialized in license www.PeerReviewJustice.comlaw and by Dr. Richard Willner who has a web page that has impressed me with the high profile he has gained through representing his clients by approaching the peer review process and having large data banks of information. www.peerreview.org or email at info@PeerReview.org
I have read through most of Dr. Willner's web page and believe that his service is an alternative to consider rather than seeking a lawyer.
I will highlight some points from the website:
- Any suspension which lasts longer than 30 days is reportable to the National Practitioner Bank (NPDB.)
- Investigation and due process hearings takes months and leaves the MD or RN without a license to practice.
- Consent order means that the RN or MD is forced to plead guilty to some aspect of the charges which is voluntary.
- Health Care Quality Improvement Act (1986) (HCQIA) allows those who are involved in the peer review to claim immunity if they purposefully lie or hide important information during the administrative process.
- Kristin Madison, Regulating Health Care Quality in an Information Age (2007) writes "more openly available information may effectively publicize a sham peer review."
Six Stages of Change
During this time of change and adaptation it is important to realize that change comes in stages. Like the grieving process you may vacillate and just like any other time in your life some days are diamonds and some days are pearls. Attitude is the key and keeping positive thoughts through the worst of times.
Practice meditation daily and keep a journal of how your thoughts are throughout the day and how they made you feel e.g. angry/sad etc. Don't feel that you have done something wrong for having negative thoughts and thus negative emotions but rather get into the habit of being an observer of these thoughts and emotions then you can learn to do the inner adjustment. Once you have identified the thought and emotion you can understand the underlying distortion or core belief that you hold about yourself that has been negatively directing you. You may believe that you are lazy for instance and not important. Just note this as it comes to you and know that when you have adjusted the thoughts a more positive self message develops.
It is an ongoing progress and that is part of how change occurs. You can look back at the journal and note your progress across time. The six stages of change is good to know so that you won't feel that you have not progressed as rapidly as you would like. Write your goals for what ever you want to change about yourself i.e. less critical, more friendly or whatever it is that you want to develop. This is a time of change and adaptation as well as inner healing so go gently with yourself.
My well-wishes are with you as your case is dealt with and I encourage you to look at Dr. Willmer's web page and decide which course is best for you to pursue to defend your license and ability to earn a living. Do consider the lenght of time you may be unable to work and start to explore alternative ways of earning money. Money is important!! eWomenNetwork has chapters throughout the US and will help you to network and meet people with business experience who can guide you.
