News articles about today's work environment for nurses.

This article alerts the public and politicians 'How 1 in 4 hospital trusts fails to offer patients safe care.'  I recommend that you read and identify where they are and what it means to your as a nurse if you are working in a hospital that is not able to meet the necessary standards of care to allow you to practice safely with your license.
The Nursing Times http://www.nursingtimes.net/nursing-practice/clinical-zones/older-people/unnecessary-ward-moves-harm-elderly-patients-warn-academics/5061707.article# has published articles that exposes unsafe practices such as moving elderly patients from ward to ward.
The Royal College of Nursing found the following cutback information which includes nursing jobs to be axed over the next three years http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/394316/25-000-NHS-jobs-go-in-three-years 4,800 nursing jobs have been lost since 2010.
Indeed.com has a forum for nurses who are unable to find work anywhere and express their disappointment with the job market in the US.
Just for Nurses is an online forum for UK nurses to share information about their work experiences.  There are polls to participate in and groups that are interacting world wide.  I encourage everyone to link with this kind of website which is not associated with any formal association.  This is the grassroots nursing change that I believe will shape how nurses feed into the system and workforce.
Toni Pearce who heads the National Union of Students in the UK may be able to help nursing students find avenues to transition and find a job in a safe work environment.  I think from my own experience that when others are involved that things start to improve and she seem feisty enough to take the bull by the horns so to speak and take action where needed.
Meditation is the foundation of all my work and my own life course and I recommend that you start your own spiritual journey.  Sometimes when we have come to a point where we keep hitting a brick wall either emotionally over some realm in our life such as relationship issues; or we have a more concrete challenge such as an economic blow because of a professional licensing issue; or a health issue that has arisen from the accumulative result of chronic stress which many nurses experience, it's time to go deeper than thinking and analyzing with our minds.  That is like a never ending labyrinth that causes us to get caught up in thoughts that are not uplifting or even true when examined.  We make assumptions based upon our emotions a lot of time and when we examine the validity of such assumptions they may not be true.  This is why self reflection and self examination are important to understand yourself and only you can be true to yourself and help yourself overcome these inner obstacles that we all face.  Start where you are.
Shabd-Meditation is meditation on inner light and sound.  There are many doctors who have written about the experiences of entering a pure white light and feeling a loving presence when they have had a near death experience.  There are many benefits from meditating such as decreasing stress and BP; aiding with sleep etc.
Sir Paul McCartney has been an advocate for the most vulnerable - animals.  We name our animals that we cozy up to and take for walks with our families but when it comes to eating them they suddenly get called 'live-stock' and 'beef' instead of cows, mutton instead of sheep etc.  Remember what you are participating in and consider what it means to your health and moral well-being.  I respect the dedication and love that Linda and Paul McCartney have share for animals and we can all awaken to that love and dedication is we choose to.
http://www.veggiefestchicago.com/view.php/mod/content/identified/6/Take%20the%20vegetagian%20Challenge#.UmqII3A3uPY  Take the Vegetarian Challenge and join with others who are supported in the transition to a healthier lifestyle.
My very best wishes are with you as you find a new business career in a small business start-up 'kitchen table style.'  You can do it!
Remember I'll be available to meet with you in High Wycombe this week-end in the lobby of The Bell between 4pm and 6pm.  I will be also available on Monday evening at The Amway Center in London from 7 pm to 9pm.
Rita.
