Personal and Professional Growth courses online for free.

  • A nurse was charged with misconduct and impaired fitness to practice in Coventry.  Please read the above link to understand the circumstances.  I can't think of anyone who would not have shouted if they thought a child was going to be burned by hot tea.  http://articles.latimes.com/2014/jan/09/business/la-fi-mo-la-woman-sues-mcdonalds-over-hot-coffee-20-years-after-huge-verdict-20140109  Twenty years ago a woman was awarded $2.9 million by a jury following an incident in which hot coffee had spilled in her lap.  I can relate Carol Anne O'Reilly and her concern that the tea was too hot for a child to drink and that if she had not yelled, perhaps the child would have been burned.  This was not tea that had been prepared for patients but from boiled water in the staff area with most likely no thermal regulator.
  • The second charge was impaired fitness to practice.
  • Patricia Brenner http://bst.sagepub.com/content/24/3/188.abstract  developed the theory From Novice to Expert based on the Dryfus Model of Skill Aquisition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreyfus_model_of_skill_acquisition
  •  According to the Dryfus Model of Skill Aquisition: Mastery involves situational recognition, holistic recognition, intuitive decision, absorbed awareness.
  • As Carol Anne was a Senior Nurse and specialized in learning disabilities she has been able to develop the ability to problem solve through engagement using play rather than verbal redirection.  Interventions such as Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) focuses on non-verbal communication and play and is used at the Taviscot Clinic in London.  The alternative approach would have been verbal redirection and that could have led to the patient loosing control and escalating the situation rather than finding an intervention that involved play which the patient could relate to and had been engaged in before with this nurse.
  • The RDI approach (and a number of other social-developmental approaches) focus on nonverbal communication, and play.  The foundations for language of nonverbal communication and social interaction are often the best place to start with children on the spectrum.  email communication from Dr. Jessica A. Hobson PhD.
  • When I read that Carol Anne did not attend her hearing I felt that she she was shamed and embarrassed by the situation and how her actions had been judged.  A feeling of powerless is not uncommon when nurses are confronted with an investigation and disciplinary hearing.  I hope that more nurses will respond to cases that are published in newspapers and online by supporting nurses where appropriate.
  • This is what I want to make clear to nurses.  That you find a lawyer who is specialized in license law to represent you and fight for your license.  Carol Anne had a 30 year history of working as a nurse and an unblemished record.  That is why I write this blog and do outreach to nurses so that you will not feel isolated and alone when confronted with defending your license.
  • This is an online community to provide support because many are going through a similar circumstance or have been through it and can support you.  I encourage nurses to contact one another and meet in person to provide local support and keep in touch via phone and emails as well.  Support one another and be there for someone else.

When it comes to money - money is important!  http://rhhbschool.com/dirty-little-secret/?orid=302184&opid=108&inf_contact_key=dc1f83a1277a1cba3c76dee9a6d79d04e9e10cae58bd00435cf15fd157452  Another amazing free online course that will help you to gain knowledge in 6 critical areas in order to grow your online business from your lap top at home.  The presenter, Marie Forleo has her own successful online business and will inspire us to reach out to the coming 3 billion more people who will join the internet by 2020 and who can be our potential customers.
I wish you all the very best as your form your connections with other nurses in your own communities and help each other succeed.  As nurses we are change agents, helping others overcome their own personal challenges, and now it is time for you to step up to the plate and work through the areas you need to heal as quickly as possible.
http://thetappingsolution.com/2014VideoSeries/?page_id=17  This link will bring you to a video taken at a tapping conference to show you how to recognize your own hot spots, issues, pain or whatever you want to call it so that you can start working it through your subconscious and rid yourself of self limiting beliefs and the pain that is felt in the body as your store your negative emotions.  Become more aware of how you think and act.  It takes time but you will become free by going through this process.  I know that it may seem like so much to do as you learn about business at the same time and I can say that indeed it is a lot, but essential for your personal and professional development and growth.  I know you can do it!
Warm Wishes and Happy Tapping,
Rita
