When one nurse is successful in the courtroom or in business, others can follow.
Taxpayers_to_pay__outrageous____6m_for_disputed_healthcare_review_this_year/ Some call this kind of thing 'adding insult to injury' or 'rubbing salt in a wound.' Anyone who pays taxes and finds out that 6 million pounds of it was spent on a review which concluded that St. Helier's Hospital should be closed and has already been listed as one of hospitals identified as not financially viable by a study called the 'Sustainable and Financially Effective' (SAFE) report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-16880196
I don't want to be a smart Alec but will have to add this to highlight the ongoing saga for nurses who are in the midst of hospital closures. Voltair said 'If common sense were very common, more people would have more of it.'
Tom Brake the MP for Carshaltonown spoke out about the plans to close St. Helier's Hospital which had recently been recognized for excellence in some areas of service such as the Emergency Room: "Millions have been spent on a review which hardly anyone supports locally. It recommends the closure of the A&E at St Helier which has just received the best rating anywhere in England Wales and Northern Ireland for treating emergency patients with hip fractures and St Helier’s nationally renowned neo-natal unit.
The aim of the SAFE report is to achieve a 1.2 Billion pound efficiency savings by 2015. 421 million of which will be saved from cuts to nursing. I have always heard hospital administrators say that the nursing budget was always high, but they do work 24/7.
The QE2 or Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Birmingham http://www.uhb.nhs.uk/about-the-trust.htm I am told is the second largest hospital in Europe. I wonder what the patient satisfaction experiences are in comparison to smaller hospitals. There is a tag on their web page to tell you how to find it. It's so huge it would be hard not to see it from anywhere within a few mile radius I think!
Having the right legal representation is key for nurses who have to defend their licenses and barrister Michael Egan was able to win a positive outcome for his client Ms. Okeke who was charged with incompetence http://www.hsj.co.uk/news/high-court-rules-incompetent-nurses-cannot-be-struck-off/5063902.article#.UnVTKXA3uPZ Human rights issues will help to protect nurses who can perhaps be required to go through some further education and training with a period of supervision versus revoking a license. This case marks a turning point for nurses who are learning to stand up for themselves.
Where there is clear criminal action the police and courts automatically become involved as is the case with Victor Chua and under those conditions of inquiry the person is considered innocent until proven guilty which is democratic.
When it comes to money...money is important! Nurses need to quickly get on their feet financially as the job market is competitive. I recommend that you join companies that have their own marketing network to help you to learn how to sell and market the service or product that will help you to earn money fast. Mary Kay is one such organization with offices in the US and UK for cosmetics. Mary Kay started her business because she knew that cosmetic and liquor sales are always winners during hard economic times because people use these types of band-aids to help them feel better. Network marketing is fairly new in the UK but more widely practiced in the US I think because of the expanse in territory has allowed for that kind of service presentation and delivery system because for some it would require a long journey to a retailer to buy products. In the UK the people can be said to be more reserved and not used to discussing the kind of personal items they use with other people along with other barriers such as dismissing these businesses as making the people at the top of the organization rich at the expense of the new business start ups. I believe the American work ethic has been instilled into people who join network marketing companies and once they find that they can earn money at this kind of thing then they recommend it to others. My hope is that nurses will see that this kind of business model is a cash cow that will improve their circumstances.
Always consider the tax benefits of owning a small business and join sites such as Under 30 CEO to find tax savings tips. For instance as a small business owner with Amway it is possible to travel overseas as a business expense if you have contacts living around the globe. The possibilities are tremendous for growth with companies like Amway that experience continued financial growth in today's economy.
My very best wishes are with you as you go forward with your lives and seek new avenues for financial freedom. Make the ceiling your new floor and don't let anything or anybody stop you.
Nurses Transition Network meeting at Starbucks in Windsor http://www.iberkshire.co.uk/profile/562705/Windsor/Starbucks-Coffee/ on Monday 4th at 10 am to 1130. Nurses bring your networking cards and support each other during the time that you are unable to work under your nursing license or perhaps want to consider taking a break from your nursing career.
Warm Wishes, Rita.

Diwali marks the beginning of the business year.
Diwali Festival
Background Date: Sunday November 3rd 2013
This festival is celebrated by lighting candles and saying prayers for prosperity. It marks the beginning of the business year. It will be awesome for everyone to say a prayer for prosperity to reach each one of the nurses who are transitioning into business. Powerful!
I have to admit that I am not quite as computer savvy as most of you are and those 'Google woogle Google guys from Company G' are the best at helping me out. I hope you enjoy the song that fits the theme of my gratitude to Google.
Google has invented a system called uProxy to guard people in countries that will punish them for communicating with the outside world online. Google operates under the informal motto 'Don't be evil.' That is really what is needed in the world today. People are thrown under the bus it seems to me in so many places and people don't seem to notice or perhaps care what's going on in front of them. The Times today goes on to say 'Google remains keen to offer help to vulnerable groups - such as human rights advocates, and election monitors - in ways that might anger authoritarian regimes. Its new tools include Project Shield, a system designed to protect websites from denial-of-service attacks, which typically try to render a site unusable by crashing it or by bombarding it with requests.' Making positive changes in the world. I like that very much.
When you are running a small business it is important to be accessible on line and keep your information current for your clients. If you are able to afford a smart phone I recommend that you use this and find as much information about apps as you can. The Chelsea Apps Factory besides offering an array of apps that will help you to run your new business start-up it also gives an example of someone who saw a gap in the market place and has made fifty million plus! I will do some research on some other apps and share it with you though this is not my strong point I hope it will add to your repertoire of business skills. I'm thinking that there are many of you who are half my age and twice as smart and if you can develop apps that can be used by businesses and the medical field you can make a fortune too and that's what I wish for each and every one of you.
Who ever has gone before you can teach you how. Dame Marjorie Scardino was listed 17th on the Forbes list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the world says 'take risks and not to fear failure.' She shares her five golden rules to abide by: keep it simple, be yourself, don't take yourself too seriously, be generous, and thing big.' Gratitude and generosity go hand in hand. Jesus said 'It is better to give than receive' because that is one of the main principles of the law of attraction.
Let there be light! Lighting candles is part of celebrating Diwali which means 'Festival of Lights.' It is traditional to clean your home before the celebration begins to welcome abundance into your life. Perhaps you can Google and see what more you can learn about this special festival and increase your prosperity consciousness.
I will be at the Amway Center in London on Monday 28th October and each Monday evening following between 7pm and 9pm. Bring your business cards and you are warmly invited to attend a presentation about the Amway business model and products. I recently had to go into a well known chemist to buy make up for a photo shoot and was tailed by a security guard like a 'duck on a June bug!' I said something to an employee there and she responded that the security guard had been told to watch people like me - I happen to be older and have grey hair and use a shopping basket on wheels to carry my laptop etc. They gave me a good selling point for buying products on line! Amway, London The reason I like Amway so much is because it is still a family owned business and the ingredients for all of their products come from their own organic farms. THEY DO NOT TEST PRODUCTS ON ANIMALS. This is very important to incorporate into your life. Being mindful about the lives of animals. St. Francis of Assisi loved all of God's creation. It all ties into the law of attraction for what you sew comes back to you. Please be kind and gentle to all creatures.
I will be in High Wycombe this weekend 26th and 27th October and we can network between 2 pm and 4pm at The Bell to network. Bring your business cards. This link will show you directions.
As always you are in my thoughts and prayers as you contemplate about a career in business and get ready with your lap tops, smart phones and build up your customer base. You can do it!
Warm Wishes, Rita

New growth comes when we let go of the old.
It's already Autumn, that time of year when the old is shed and discarded because that's the way nature works. It doesn't worry about what will be left or what will come again. It just lets go of what has had its life and waits in the silence of the Winter for the Spring to come again.
Your life can change to better circumstances than you ever imagined. Remain positive at all times and don't let anyone pour out their sympathy on you. You are strong and you will transcend even this by remaining focused and learning from those who can teach you the tools you need to know. Please look back over the links I've given you to sites that can inspire you and keep your confidence strong.
Grant writing is a skill that can open door to opportunities in areas that will help you to be creative; do positive work in the community and for the environment; and bring you the money you need to create abundance. Rachel Unell writes in Grant Gopher and gives lists of grants that are available for different things such as domestic violence centers and she has the forms you will need to submit etc. Contact her directly for more information and start your own program with a grant. In the UK do a google search and find out about grants that are available. You can also check with your librarian. Not everybody is able to start a business with all the frills and fan fare of people who have lots of money or loans to start with. Don't let that stop you. As long as you have a lap top, kitchen table and cell phone you are off to a start in business. Check out writings by Professor Susan Marlow http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/business/lizsm6_Publications.html on entrepreneurship. She acknowledges that the typical business models are geared toward those who have some assets to get loans etc. Like I've said, don't let that stop you. Go back over the links I have posted such as for The Secret and apply them to your life.
I can see a trend in many spheres such as news now that is not the conventional newspaper articles that people no longer trust. People like Pierre Omidyar who founded eBay has hired Greenwald, formerly of the Guardian Newspaper because he would like to 'create the entire journalism unit from the ground up by recruiting the journalists and editors who share the same journalistic ethos and shaping the whole thing...in the image of journalism I respect.' The article goes on to say that 'Greenwald will work alongside two of the investigative journalists at the heart of the NSA story, Jeremy Scahill and Laura Poitras, the documentary filmmaker who had played an instrumental role in the revelations.' Because people have the courage to start to share the truth of what they know, I feel that the public are feeling a fresh sense of trust. I also think there will be venues for nurses to write and blog with these news venues and I hope you look into investigative journalism as a career. A lot can be written to bring issues that nurses face when they are unable to work due to license issues. Also it's a time to thing as you come together through grass root networking where ever you are to contact your local politician and share your story. When it comes time to vote reflect upon the politicians stance toward nurses who come under investigation etc.
At the end of next month there will be a networking group in Birmingham. I'm looking for a venue that is alcohol free, and I will keep that standard for all events. Get your business cards ready and share them with others who are in the process of beginning a business start-up.
Meet with me at the Amway Center, London on Monday evenings November 1st starting at 7pm until 9pm. You can attend a new business presentation and see if you like the products and the business model. I will have to say that what appeals to me about Amway is that it is not a real high cost to get started and you get mega, mega support from mentors to help you develop your own business with Amway.
Keep posted because I want you to have opportunities to earn money and start your own business. As I get the web site built up there will be coaches who will blog about issues that you have been confronted with and how to work through it all. You can do it!!!
You are in my prayers and thoughts and remember that you are not along. As a group we bring a power of intention for everyone to succeed that is strong. I look forward to meeting you in London and Birmingham.
With Very Best Wishes, Rita.

The Kitchen table, good for meals and starting a business too!
The depth of meaning that something as ordinary as scrap metal is something which we all connect with through our soul. We can be reduced to tears in an instant when we see the suffering that takes place in the lives of others and we know that we are called to make a difference. The world becomes a better place when we see the potential for things to be good for everyone, everywhere. I am really pleased to see that readers are linking into this site as far afield as Russia and China. We are all nurses, or have been nurses until some event took place to turn your life around in an instant. Now you have to turn your life around on a dime so to speak to find a new direction so that you can continue to earn money.
The Daily Telegraph has some wonderful articles about start up businesses that literally took off from the kitchen table. telegraph.co.uk/innovation-in-business check out this site an see if there is something in there that can help you on your way to success in business. Don't feel that you can't start because you lack an office or store front. You will need a laptop and a cell phone. Let your friends know that you are starting in your own business and start networking.
Go to the MeetUp link on this site and start your own local groups for 'Nurses Transition Network.' You can be a support to one another and share creative ideas about starting business. Networks help you find the leads you need in business to find your ideal client. Make sure that you have a picture in your mind of the kind of client you want to attract (remember about the law of attraction.) Know the income level you want them to have and how much you want to charge for your service or product. I have subscribed to Lea Ann Reyes newsletter and find her writing very clear and useful and invite you to join her to learn about starting a business http://www.nurse-entrepreneur-network.com/products/item18.cfm She wrote recently about the importance of starting. Don't keep putting it off because you feel that you need more in place. Just do it!
I had an email for someone about a DUI and I want to say that I really empathize with those who may have made a mistake such as this but that I am not a law service and can't advise anyone what to do under this kind of circumstance. My recommendation as far as lifestyle however is to stop drinking. I mean no drinking whatsoever and that's the way it has to be in order to keep your mind and body pure and free of toxins. You cannot evolve spiritually while you drink and that is what I want you to focus on. If this is the starting point for some then I recommend that you check out these rehab centers. http://www.fathermartinsashley.org/ABOUT-ASHLEY/Key-Staff.aspx and http://www.castlecraig.co.uk/treatment/treatment-effectiveness
We all have things to work on with ourselves and I hope these two sites will offer some options for your road to wellness and living a healthy lifestyle and putting the past behind you. Sometimes we make headway in our inner freedom when we have to face part of ourselves that cause us pain and disappointment in life. It's the way we learn and then grow from it but it can only change if we make the commitment to change.
I wish you much prosperity and health and joy in life. You are welcome to contact me at lawrencerita511@gmail.com but I cannot respond to legal questions. I have given examples of websites that you can visit for legal advise and will list these on the web page for 'Nurses Transition Network.'
Get ready to meet in London at the Amway Center, London, England in November and at a location to be announced in Birmingham, West Midlands. Will be announcing a Spiritual Retreat with talks, walks and yoga in the Spring of 2014 in Scotland. Be ready with your business cards for networking and supporting one another in business enterprise.
