As a Professional Life Coach, in the beginning of my work I am quite clear about the spiritual aspect of my work in self-development. My Master of Science education gives me a broad understanding of our human makeup in terms of psychological as well as our physiological being. The two are scientifically grounded and well researched. Although educated in pharmacology I have not felt comfortable with it as the core treatment for people suffering from such conditions as depression. I believe that our inner world is where we have to first connect and then we can connect to our outer being and personification.
My spiritual journey began in 1986 as I was initiated on a path that taught me to love my self through meditation and understand myself through self examination. Through a long process of combined spiritual practices, spending time in spiritual retreat with my Master and meditation I was able to free myself of all the inner baggage which I call garbage that had caused me pain and burden me physically with a heaviness that blocked me from experiencing myself as light and joy. For the past year and a half I have been on the path called Science of Spirituality http://www.sos.org under the guidance of HH Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Marahaj who is the current Master of the lineage. This is the right path for me and I am grateful that I am now learning from my Master who uses scientific logic and practical teachings that connect us with the self through mysticism which is the inner experience of knowing God. There is an outer knowing of God that we learn through religion that is cognitively understood. This understanding alone is not enough to take us to enlightenment which is the goal for mankind and attainable through the Grace and guidance of an enlightened Master.
When I work with individuals I must take them on the journey to inner freedom through learning to meditate and following a daily practice that includes self introspection and using tools similar to those used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to monitor thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Vegetarianism is required because of the ethical choice that must be made not to harm any animals as well as the purification of our bodies through eating vegan diets. Vegetarian foods are delicious and once you learn to cook them you won't want to go back to eating meat! I recommend that you watch the video at http://www.FoodInc.com but make sure you don't eat first as it is disgusting to see how inhumanely animals are treated in the food industry particularly factory farming.
I look forward to taking you to the first step in creating a better life through connecting first with the inner self and then as taught in Kashmir Shavism your outer world will manifest according to your inner state of being. We have an opportunity in this lifetime to know God and this is your chance not only to create a successful life but to become initiated by a Spiritual Master and transgress the wheel of karma which brings you back to this life repeatedly until lessons are learned and karmas ended.

Patience.
Of the many virtues that become an integral part of our inner being patience is the one thing that I am normally not in short order of! Whenever there is an expectation then impatience arises inside and the feeling is like anxiety. The key is to not become attached to the outcomes of any of your efforts of projects. Stay focused and work diligently then let the process take care of itself. Where there is expectation there is a need for control and that takes the lesson to a deeper level. Even though there may be years of purification and inner cleansing through meditation and spiritual practices under the guidance of a spiritual master there is still the human urge to want outcomes to manifest.
That being said don't let a few incidents feel that you have lost ground. Other feelings of attachment are part of the awakened soul such as grieving when someone passes from this life. In reality it is our own loss that we cannot bear because the soul that has been released doesn't grieve to return to this life. We can all feel joys when our favorite officials are elected for example but the true joy and happiness inside doesn't belong or resonate with outside events. Our soul loves to be in its own perfect joy that comes from uniting the soul with God.
Always seek to find truth in any situation no matter what and if that takes a long time you will benefit from the experience by learning patience. God knows our nature and for everything there is a season. Be kind with yourself and examine where your life is leading you today. Fall is a season that reflects letting go of the old and getting ready for the winter which is a time for silence and stillness. In the fall the leaves turn brilliant colors and naturally leave the safety of the tree to cover the earth and become a source of nourishment for other plants and animal life. We too can let go of our outer coating and get back to our bare frame. When we are stark sometimes we find that what is real and true for us remains and what isn't dear to our hearts is automatically dropped. At times when we are feeling stretched we can unload the extra baggage that we tend to hold onto either emotionally or materially. I have found that my life is more relaxed and pleasant when I simplify.
The topic of boundaries is very important to teach children when they are young. Today I was troubled by articles about a three year old whose personal space was violated by airport security. This kind of infringement is about our 4th Amendment Rights and they need to be protected at all costs. Go to Judge Napolitano's web page for more details. What I want to get across is that personal pictures should not be part of the government documentation about any individual.
Recently I visited a home of some friends and noticed that a male friend of theirs spent a vast amount of time with the children in an upstairs bedroom. One would expect a male peer of the parents to spend time with other adults and not the children. These types of boundary issues are difficult to address directly with parents and I hope that I won 't be put in that position of having to do so. When there is confusion and mixed messages such as when certain people can become like family members - a sort of kinship that some western cultures have too - that invites problems with boundaries. There are people with problem behaviors toward children and the job of parents is to protect children from them.
I have other projects that I will focus my time and energy on over the holidays. Kenya is my childhood home and I have written about my experiences and started a book proposal. Now that a legal issue is being brought out into the open I can concentrate my energies toward constructive future plans for publishing. So in the end the expectations for one situation may be in my mind delayed but instead of trying to suppress the experience of impatience I can create a whole new channel for my productivity! I look forward to the legal issues unfolding as they must now do as measures have been put into action. I also can let that go and focus on the positive work ahead with writing and publishing. I am now in the fall mode of life in the present moment instead of expecting certain outcomes and waisting my precious energy.

Adalaide Street, Windsor
My mother died in February of this year at the ripe old age of ninety seven. She had a cousin Mary who died at one hundred and one and was most put out that she could not attend a funeral for her because she was an atheist. One of the things that is a source of connection with our past and ancestors is having places to visit. Adelaide Street in Windsor was a place my mother took me to see the home where her father was born and raised.
His name was Arthur Brown and stood bold and brash in a family picture in the back garden of the terraced home where his mother and father who was the chief carpenter at Windsor Chapel. One of thirteen children who could choose to have bread with butter or jam as my mother used to say as a way of making it clear to me that sacrifices were part of growing up. Her father looked like a dandy! After meeting my grandmother Ida who was the daughter of a sea captain they never visited his family as a couple because my grandmother thought them beneath her class. In England the class distinctions were very strong and people could tell who belonged in the lower working class by the way they spoke and where they could afford to live. My grandmother would pace outside my grandfather's home when he went home to visit but didn't go in.
After seeing the outside of the home my mother took me to an iron fenced old graveyard close by where we visited the graves of my mother's parental grandparents. She liked to have contact with the places that held their memory and it created a certainty in our own lives about being part of the bigger picture of the Brown family from Windsor. In 1960 we visited my mother's uncle at Wimbledon Hospital who was alert and friendly at 104 years old. He didn't have any place to go when his housekeeper was hospitalized so he went to hospital too and caught pneumonia and died shortly after.
One thing I can be sure of is that on my mother's side of the family there is longevity! However, on my father's side the counterbalance of hereditary disease at the young age of 48 makes the odds about 50:50. At least I can hope for old age but enjoy life anyway. Luckily through my spiritual path I have become vegetarian and health conscious and thus reduced my chances of developing cancer of the colon that my father suffered. Our family ancestors have been strong and able to overcome odds and perils in a way that we have not had to deal with in our modern life of luxury. Even though I have worked hard and raised by a widow of four children I know that I have always been able to earn a living and raise my daughter on a nursing salary while her father completed his education.
I love to visit England and call my brother who lives outside London to talk about his health and life since he spent the last ten years taking care of our mother. My sister was always the blond haired blue eyed favorite of my mother's and I was referred to as "that Rita!" Some of the time with my mother was okay but for the most part it was a very difficult relationship and particularly since my sister did mean things to me then had my mother's support for every undertaking in her life. I kept quiet about my sister's spite because I wouldn't be supported by our mother. Unless blood was visible which happened when we lived in Carvongu in the bush along the coast of Kenya. I remember looking into a bogelvelia bush that our mother had planted in our garden which had prickly thorns when my sister pushed me from behind. I still have scars on the inside of both thighs from the deep cuts and scratches.
My sister's manipulation and my mother's favoritism toward her lasted until practically the end of our mother's life when she learned that our brother had lost the sight in his eye due to a punch during an argument between my siblings. When my brother told me what happened I could not imagine how such a drastic amount of damage could have resulted because I have seen facial wounds from fights between patients in psychiatric wards and none that I had witnessed resulted in blindness. I later found out that my sister had taken karate lessons and had learned this technique for hitting someones eye in her class. Needles to say I am supportive of my brother because I too have been victim to my sister's spite. Like the time she punched my in the jaw when I was thirteen and our mother had allowed us to go on vacation to Somerset with the girl next door who was fifteen. I drank merry down which is an alcoholic drink like cider but more potent. I really was out of my league with older girls who could carry their liquor so much better and punish me who was not used to it!
Take care and do your own family review and decide where to put your time and effort. My sister is superficial for sure and although I had gone along with her ways in the past I now have drawn a line in the sand. I have not worked for the past two years due to a legal issue that I was cleared of and now have to defend myself from an attack by the state board of nursing on my professional standing and reputation. I know one thing for sure - you either have to learn to fight back in life and that is what personal responsibility is about or be a victim. See where you stand in your life and decide what steps you need to take to develop courage to stand firm in your convictions. Two checks written to me and one for eight hundred and twenty dollars as a gift from my brother and mother were not honored by my sister and her husband. I now have those checks at a lawyer's office. It doesn't mean that I have any dislike, hatred or animosity, it's just I have learned to put myself first.

Health
http://www.rainnutrition.com/
A favorite motivator of mine is Napoleon Hill who said that unless we have health the rest of live won't be successful. I believe that we adapt to our circumstances but also agree with his premise that health is the platform for everything we want to build in our lives.
I have included a link to a powerful antioxidant product that is fairly new to the market. Antioxidants are found in seeds of fruits that are tapped into because they increase many times the amount of power than found in the fruit itself. Antioxidants provide our body with damage control by cleaning out free radicals - those things that make us age and also can cause cancer. I always promote a vegetarian diet and it is because of two reasons. Number one - I mentor and coach people to success through the spiritual path of recognizing God within and seeing your connection with nature and others and tthrough that awareness recognize your oneness with "All." My Teacher commands "Love All," because we all have come from the same source and share in the same Power. Secondly our bodies are cleaner on a vegetarian diet and my Teacher's direct questioning of our eating habits cuts to the quick: "Why make your body into a graveyard?"
Life is stressful and challenging for most of us right now. We are excited to see things change through the upcoming election but we also know that there may be more financial troubles ahead. Keeping our bodies strong and healthy is a priority. That means being mindful of the types of foods you select and where you buy your produce. I recommend health food stores because of the selection of organic foods. The life force in food you should select vegetables and fruits should make them look strong and healthy. If they are limp and dull looking the life force has left and won't do your body any good. When you prepare food pray over it constantly. When I spent time with my Teacher in her retreat I used to do a lot of kitchen seva or volunteering that is ultimately for our good as we become free of our own obstacles through the Grace of the Master. I have found the same service with my new Teacher and love it dearly because it gives me an opportunity to pray and say the names of God as I prepare the food for others. Be aware of your own energy as your family's food. Your energy is contagious and it is passed on!
Avoiding caffeine is recommended though I say everything in moderation is the key. Hopefully you will learn to appreciate discipline in eating. One Saint recommended eating until the stomach is half full. We tend to eat till we feel stuffed and some people's brain doesn't register satiation or the feeling of being satisfied. One of the reasons we want to keep eating more and more and more is because we lack the basic nutrients that our body's crave. Rain Nutrition will be able to provide nutrients that you are missing in your diet though I still emphasize that eating a well balanced vegetarian diet along with the antioxidant is the preferred choice.
When your body feels fit you will notice a shift in how much you eat and the type of foods you eat. I have seen pictures of many people including the host of the program I attended last night who have lost weight due to taking Rain Nutrition. We all know that obesity leads to medical disorders like diabetes and even hip and joint stress. Many people have had symptoms of fibermyalgia and testified that they were reduced or eradicated since taking Rain Nutrition.
I hope you check the site and let me know if you want to try the product. I wish you and your family a healthy life ~

Live from the heart.
Having spent many years on the spiritual path I am very attuned to other's energy and their tone and choice of words which can be truly a challenge for me. I realize that it is perhaps a cultural thing that people can seem pushy and lack true empathic linking with another. My background in psychiatric nursing and my education also plays a role. I am protective of myself and normally don't engage with people until I know a bit more about them for these reasons.
I received an expected phone call related to a program that was being offered on a social network site. Because I am working as a Professional Life Coach I was interested in learning but did not know the cost involved which was a barrier for me at this time. I was the first one to put the discussion into a business context by asking what her work was. She seemed a little surprised but I knew that at that point I had taken over control. She informed me of her own success and that of her partner before asking me if I was happy with my life and lived where I wanted.
I realise that much is written about material thinking and bringing success through energetic work. It's OK and I know that our lives have to be in balance to bring the things we desire. I do believe that we are destined to go through karma that we would not know about but in order to clear it from our slate have to go through events to get ourselves cleared of the past burdens, even from previous lifetimes. As a devotee of a Spiritual Master I have absolute trust that I am in the right place in my life for what I need to learn and develop and that struggling against what is doesn't bring harmony that is needed to attract prosperity.
I have had two Spiritual Teachers and my original Teacher opened my heart and since the time that I was under her direction I have led my life from my heart. My current teacher relates to our everyday lives with an emphasis on ethics and application of right action in our lives. We are taught to be accountable for every action and thought that we have that is negative and keep a journal record to send to him if we wish. This is how we grow by going deeper into our self and having true understanding about who we are. We can skip the rudimentary basics of spirituality as "boot camp" so to speak and jump into the luxury realm of life. This is where people truly get burned and turn to other ways of coping to feel love, joy, peace etc. though alcohol and drugs. Of course it wouldn't be everyone who would handle success this way but the risk is high if you don't have the spiritual growth to ground you.
For now I have made my way through legal battles to do with my career. It has been a set back in one sense but has been a boon in another. I met my Teacher a year ago and have spent time with him in Chicago. I have been reading and writing and following political events on line. Just today I signed up to write for an online news publication under the category of children and family. I have worked most of my career with children and adolescents and love to help people find joy in their family life. It takes commitment in any relationship to feel joy even with yourself. My Teacher used to tell us that we had to "unearth the joy." We are conditioned to believe that happiness is outside ourselves and we have elevations in mood when we buy new goods or do well on exams etc. but this is temporary joy and doesn't reach the level of bliss. Your God is at home right now in your heart! Open the door and let Him in!!
Whatever work God has given you to do be completely absorbed in it and offer your total self. If it is money that motivates you it will not bring you the happiness that you will have for the love of your work alone. Always go the extra mile for people. Someone I know shared a picture of his presentation at an important meeting regarding a voting rights issues. I know that he can give his total all to this project because he was able to share his experience so openly and when you do that other's connect with you. It takes a vulnerable nature to keep going out into the world of stone hearted people and demonstrating how to care. It can be done and carrying the light is what some have been given to do. Let your light shine and light others lights on the way!
Life is such a beautiful journey with many turns and unexpected events. Learn everything you can from your religion and live the way you are taught. I have found that my love for Christ has deepened since studying with Spiritual Master's who have helped me with my own inner journey. Being vegetarian is a necessary component of spiritual transcendence and my Master asks "Why make your body into a graveyard?" I hope to become active through writing to stop factory farming which is about the most evil thing I have seen. See the video "Food.Inc."
Know that no matter how your life looks right now it's in a process and God is in control. Keep your goals written down and work toward them everyday. Say prayers. If doors are closed and not easy to open don't try to force them open. Find another way to earn a living and thank God for His protection. Seek a spiritual mentor and Life Coach who can help you find the right path for you. Someone who has gone ahead of you and knows the effort involved and courage that it takes to encounter the spiritual path. It is not for the faint hearted but God will get you to the goal of Liberation. That is the goal of mankind and our purpose for being.
Sleep well tonight and sweet dreams. Think of all those who love you before you go to sleep and know that angles surround you while you sleep.
